Test measurements of in-vehicle optical sensors

On the 24th of April test measurements of optical sensors used in Intelligent Road project were accomplished in Luleå, Sweden. Tests were carried out by using Volvo XC90 test vehicle to which all optical sensors are mounted simultaneously and by doing several test drives with the vehicle in the surroundings of Luleå.

There are two sensors that measure road condition and road friction and two sensors that measure ambient temperature and the temperature of road surface. Also a third optical pyrometer

and two VVIS road weather stations were used to get a reference value for temperature. The main reason for these measurements is to compare data between similar sensors. Tests were carried out by Johan Casselgren from Luleå Technical University and Ville Tuovinen from

Arctic Power unit of Lapland UAS.
